The Bat Hat

About 5 weeks ago my husband and I started to walk in the evening. It isn't a substitute for regular exercise, although it's made a difference in my legs. We still cycle and my husband swims every morning at 5:30.
.
It's more of a winding down walk around the park close to our home. Yes, it is the same park "where I passed a boy " and I liked it last summer. No matter which paths we take through the park it's a 43 minute walk. Not to say we are creatures of habit or anything.
.
My husband gets home late and eats dinner first, so part of the walk is the dark. As, it's gotten warmer though, the bats are flying lower in the sky. Yikes! Sometimes I feel like they're swooping only inches from my head. We see other walkers now and then, but they aren't bothered by the bats.
.
Last week, I started wearing this hat, my bat hat. I feel invincible with my bat shield. I may have been bat girl in a former life. I also carry a tiny red flashlight, but of course bats can't see and operate by sonar or radar or something I should have paid better attention to in school. All I know is that bats are everywhere in New Jersey, and I'm just finding this out!
.
It's our wedding anniversary this weekend, so I'm planning on some kissing. I hope you are planning the same. Have a wonderful few days,

xoSherry

Oh I miss walks on warm Summer evenings. It's so cold and rainy here at the moment, I'm only doing the 10ft dash to the heater to turn it on each morning.
Have a great weekend, happy anniversary! x

Happy Anniversary Sherry! I am loving your bat hat- they are scary little critters to me, too- we once had one land on our porch railing and I thought he could be rabid because I think they usually do not fly so low- and up close he was very small...and super ugly- yes, keep your head covered- NJ bats are likely the worst ....

Love your hat! It's what I call a Gilligan hat. (remember Gilligan's Island?). I have one but look like a grade A dork in it. I 'spose the bats wouldn't mind since they can't see.
We have bats that come out at dusk and fly over the lake. I love watching them.
Happy anniversary~ Katie

Oh I would SOOOO be wearing a hat. I love to look at bats and at pictures and videos of bats because they look so cool.....but swooping anywhere near my head would NOT be acceptable and I would also have a bat hat!

Happy, Happy Anniversary Sherry and Mr. Sherry! So happy for you.

Have a lovely anniversary weekend! I remember growing up in Ohio during the summer laying in the front yard with friends watching and listening to the bats fly over. It was a thrill... my DH hates bats...

LOL, the hat sounds like a good idea, though I think you'd be safe from bats as long as you're not a mosquito! Just think of each bat you see as another mosquito reducer and you'll like them better.
