When my husband and I got married, we were young and headstrong and poor. We were of different religions and this among other things caused some strife in our respective families. So, in the midst of planning a traditional wedding, we eloped. I mentioned we were headstrong, didn't I?

We went to Jeweler's row in Philadelphia and purchased plain gold bands. We hopped in my husband's 1983 Chevy Nova and headed west for a bit. When we returned our families hosted a lovely reception for us and we began our lives together.

Somehow in the dead of winter we started to talk about new rings. I showed Bob the amazing titanium rings on etsy. We both fell in love with the same rings by Johan ,and ordered them.
Our plain gold bands have been with us for more than 20 years, so I wanted a special way to save them, and still look at them. So, I purchased this lovely ring bowl from Caroline at

We had a little getaway on Saturday night and exchanged the rings. Bob tied them in the bowl and I set them up on our headboard when we got home. And they said it wouldn't last....

Oh my! I just tuned into look at blog posts and what a sweet and romantic and delightful one to start with this morning! Congrats on your choices- both of persons and products!! Here's to many more celebrations!
What a lovely story! So cool that you eloped..I tried talking my husband into eloping in Italy, but he wouldn't go for it.
Sweet. Something exciting and new to look at to give you that bubbly, warm feeling. Very cool bands, too.
Aha- the rings have arrived! What a wonderful story Sherry- this has made my day! And I love the new rings. My hubby and I married with just his mother and brother present and then took them out for pizza - ugh- my only real regret is the lack of pictures. Wishing you guys many more moments like Saturday night, too my friend...
xo- Cat :)
That is so touching. I remember when Irv and I went to look at engagement rings....we were 18....I really loved one particular gold one, but I knew it was more than he could spend, so I selected a nice white gold one....a whole 1/5th of a carat for $125. Chee Hoo....and it's till on my finger....rather thin and worn, but that's what 37 years will do.
Good for you for following your hearts back then. It's not always an easy thing to do. I love the new bands. They are gorgeous and what a wonderful way to remember the originals!
How very sweet!!! I love the idea of the plate with the two rings!
Congratulations!
The rings are beautiful...and how romantic! Isn't it wonderful what beautiful creations you can find on etsy?
