I passed a boy and I liked it!

Disclaimer: I am really feeling full of myself today.

Since early May I have been rehabbing my knee. I still ride as often as I can, but my 40 year old knee (yes, the rest of me is over 40 too) has good days and bad. Bob, who knows more about bikes than anyone I've met is really good about helping me find the right seat position and the right gears depending on how I am feeling.

But, in these last glorious days of summer, I've been wanting to go faster. There is a small park near our home, a 2.6 mile ride around it (yup, we clocked it) Only one bad turn, as the man keeps pointing out. So, I've been doing a few fast laps around it most days in addition to a regular ride. It's pretty flat, and fun.

So I rode the course last night. On the second lap, I saw this guy on a nice bike about 150 yards ahead of me. I thought, gee, if I could have someone to ride behind I might be able to keep up my cadence and ride a bit faster.

So, I continued to pedal, and I caught up to him. Then, I had to slow down behind him....and I thought, I think I could pass him. And just like that, I stepped on it, and I did. I rode as fast as I could so he wouldn't catch up right away. The look on his face as I passed by was priceless.

And, the next loop around, I didn't see him at all.

I passed a boy, and I liked it. I really liked it.

Ha, too funny! Way to go! I just got a new mountain bike and I've been riding with my 13 year old. There's no way my "over 40" legs can keep up with him especially on the hills!
