There is simply nothing quite as delightful as being able to say, "I have new work from the bench". It's been in my mind's eye and sketches in my moleskine for quite awhile. I am not the type of person that shares work in progress, although I love that quality in others.

So, about a month ago, I dusted (literally, it had been 5 years) off my kiln and started firing away. I'm using fine silver and copper as the base. As I endeavor to leave a lighter footprint, I am grinding a lot of my own glass in a mortar and pestle. The colors are amazing. If I purchase sifted glass, it is lead free.
.
I'm sifting and firing and cold connecting small cast bronze elements like the star fish above. I have about 20 more pieces I am happy with, yet to be photographed. For now I'm just one with the fire. I may never leave the basement.
