For the love of Vintage

I recently received an invitation from a flickr group called From kitchens past...The Vintage Kitchen. You don't have to ask me twice. When we purchased our Craftsman Bungalow our goal was to restore it to it's original look. Bungalows are modest creatures, but full of history.

My prized possession is this General Electric 1952 Calrod stove. I know the color is unusual, but since our kitchen was black, white and stainless, it fit perfectly. We found it at a great used furniture store on our way to the Pine Barrens.

The stove is amazing, double ovens, working clock and lights, warming bins and a functional rotesserie. Atop the stove is a set of anodized aluminum tumblers in a wire caddy.

I've been thinking lately how we have all this great stuff that has stood the test of time, but I don't use it very often. So, starting today, I'm dusting off the shelves and incorporating my favorite pieces into everyday life.
