In the middle of the day, in the middle of last week, my husband and I took the train into the city (Philadelphia) Yes, I'm living La Vida Loca. It was a beautiful afternoon, and as it turned toward evening we decided to see "The Art of the Steal" It's an amazing documentary about how the City of Philadelphia schemed to wrestle control of the Barnes Foundation At the end of the film there was an interview with one of the former teachers who worked tirelessly in his attempt to preserve the Foundation as Barnes had wished.
He gave the interview in his kitchen. And, right there on his table was a black and white cup, glazed tomato red inside. My friend,Shoshona Snow made that. The technique is called sgraffito.

My husband said, I said it right out loud. Perhaps, I did. I know her.

Enjoy the week. Make good work. Kiss the ones you love.

ps Matisse- The Joy of Life above, still hangs at the Barnes.

HAHA! You're the second person that mentioned that to me...although I like your story better ;) You are too sweet. I guess I need to see it!

I like this post a lot! I don't know shoshanasnow, or didn't until just now-beautiful work. How serendipitous and fascinating to see the cup and to have parts of your life come together like that.!Here's to more mid-day unexpected excursions!

That's pretty cool.

I'm not sure how you feel about blog awards but I just nominated you for a "Sunshine Award". You can find out more on my blog.

Have a great day.

(I love the art museum in Philadelphia and can't wait to take Zack there this summer!)

I love all art museums, but have never been to Philadelphia. Can you imagine...I grew up in Ohio...so close. I have memberships to the ones here and enjoy many of their special events. It's cool to recognize someone's work in a film, show....
