Silver: recycle, repurpose, renew

Sterling silver is the basis of much of my work, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to find a tiny company that recycles sterling silver.
Mining is not kind to the environment. Pit lakes, the result of thousands of silver mines in California and Australia poison our water supply and wildlife. Cyanide, mercury and lead are the by products of silver mining. And while companies are working hard to find an eco friendly solution, more companies are finding ways to recycle the current supply.

The mother and child birch leaves is the first piece made with entirely recycled sterling silver.

I've also been working with rustic brass; it's environmentally friendly, 100% nickel free and lead free compliant. And, while I am primarily known for a more modern style ( even when I use vintage maps) I am enjoying working with the more romantic side of my brain.
Both pieces are currently available in my etsy shop.

Those are both beautiful pieces. You do both modern and vintage looking equally well.

Beautiful pieces Sherry! As soon as my silver runs out, I'm switching to recycled. Interesting about the brass. I'll have to research it too since I've been using some myself.

That necklace is SO pretty, and I'm super excited to learn more about copper as well.

I have metal allergies, but not enough of a budget to work in sterling all the time, so it's been fun working with brass, and I recently started working with copper as well, once I found out about it's friendly nature. Yay!
;)

Very lovely Sherry!

Beautiful new work Sherry.
It's a nice balance to work in more than one style, and you are definitely multi-talented.
