Magazines

I love magazines. Old magazines of Life and Look, Harper's Bazaar and National Geographic are stacked in my attic. My favorite part about going to the dentist or the doctor is reading magazines I've not seen before. My son's orthodontist has the greatest selection. My current monthly subscriptions include: Real Simple, Atlantic Monthly and Inc. Where are you going with this Sherry, you might ask?

Well, this month's INC, is chocked full of innovative private companies. And, I read the most interesting interview from Felix Dennis. Dennis started Maxim, Stuff, The Week and owns about 60 other magazines. He recently sold some to a private equity firm. None of the companies he owns are ever public, nor does he sell to public firms. He says that you will never get rich working for someone else and he's worth over $400 million dollars.

But, his words that really struck me, were: "It's not the great idea that makes you a success, it's the execution."
