Do you Kiva?

This is Seneyda, and she runs a tiny bodega, a grocery store in Nicaragua.

I am forever connected to her through Kiva a person to person micro lending website. Seneyda is the mom of two beautiful children who she can care for because she runs this store. The loan helps her buy supplies wholesale and she in turn sells them and pays the loan back. And the cycle begins again to help another.

I don't just support Kiva because it is the right thing to do, but because it reminds me how small the world is, and how one drop in the bucket creates a ripple effect. Our son was born in El Salvador. And, I remember feeling like there was so much more I should do to help. This is a small way to not feel so helpless.

Activist, Aung San Suu Kyi, who lives under house arrest in Burma reminds me: "If you're feeling helpless, help someone".

Enough said.

Kiva is just amazing. My modest $25 contribution has been lent out and repaid 3 times so far. It just keeps on going!

This seems like a great organization; I've read a lot about it.

Did you adopt your son? We are in the middle of a long and difficult adoption process here in Guatemala.

Sherry Truitt, I like you.

Love the quote at the end of this post, too. Did you know that we are neighbors in this months issue of MEHC? Yep, I'm right downstairs from you. Have a great day.
