Sometimes a concept hits you like a ton of bricks, sometimes it creeps in slowly, like the fog. I have read about the concept of wabi sabi for some years, but embracing it is a liberating experience for an artist.
Pared down to its barest essence, wabi- sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature. It celebrates the cracks and crevices and the marks of time. In our art, in our bodies, in the world that surrounds us.
It helps us revere authenticity and helps us embrace the kind of quiet beauty that waits patiently to be discovered. How lovely to embrace the same principles to your art as well as your daily life.
I am working towards that. I hope you will join me in a more reflective holiday season.

What a wonderful, calming concept. In fact, I think I'll have it framed and hung in my studio to remind me to relax and enjoy the process. Thanks for the gift of the day - Lynn
Happy Hannukah !
Thanks for visiting my blog and left comment. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much for popping in to my blog and for the lovely comment. I am so pleased to find your blog ... it has such a calm contemplative atmosphere and your jewellery is to my taste too. I shall put a link on my blog if that's OK with you and come back often to see what you are doing :)
I love this concept Sherri - and I love your work! What a wonderful blog! :-)
That idea, as described by sherry, really speaks to me. that's kind of how I live.
Its a concept I have been trying to live by for a while now and have certainly embraced the idea in my art. You might enjoy Taro Gold's little book, Living Wabi Sabi.
