Outside my studio window is a 100 year old Mulberry tree. Since I am up in the attic, I have an interesting vantage point. Growing on the bark of the tree is mistletoe. Yes, as in "kiss me under the mistletoe".
This year it seems we are on the butterfly migration route from the north down to Mexico. Usually, the monarchs follow a coastal route, but this year they are some miles inland.
They love the mistletoe. Dozens of butterflies flapping their black and orange wings! By the time I grabbed my camera, only a few would patiently wait to have their photo snapped.
So, if not much jewelry appears in my shop today, it's because, I'm butterfly watching. It's a lovely thing to do.

Beautiful photos! We just got back from the Gulf Coast and there were so many varieties of butterflies there making their way to Mexico. It always amazes me to see them every fall.
I love the monarch migrations. The sight of hundreds of butterflies...just amazing.
That is a lovely site to behold.
it makes me so happy to see them! here in upstate NY we've seen a lot of them this year.
